FAQs

How long does it take to build a home?

1

The timeframe for building a custom home typically ranges from 6 to 12 months, depending on the size of the build, architectural complexity, site conditions, material selections and council approval processes.

As a custom home builder servicing the Central Coast, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, we provide realistic project timelines during the planning stage and keep clients informed throughout construction. Clear scheduling, proactive site management and regular communication help ensure your residential build progresses as efficiently as possible while maintaining quality workmanship.

Yes — we offer an initial consultation free of charge to discuss your project, understand your goals and assess whether Champley Constructions is the right fit for your build.

For projects that move beyond the consultation stage into detailed planning, builder input, site assessments, trade consultation and scope development, professional quoting costs may be incorporated into the project. This reflects the time required to accurately prepare detailed residential building estimates for renovations, extensions, custom homes or structural works.

Our quoting process is transparent, thorough and designed to provide realistic expectations from the beginning.

2

Do you provide free quotes?

Yes — Champley Constructions is a fully licensed NSW builder and fully insured for residential construction projects.

This includes appropriate building industry protections such as Public Liability Insurance and Home Warranty Insurance where required. Working with a licensed and insured builder provides peace of mind that your project is being delivered professionally, safely and in accordance with NSW building regulations.

3

Are you licensed and insured?

We use Master Builders Association (MBA) contracts for our residential construction projects.

MBA contracts provide a clear and professional framework for both builder and client, outlining project scope, payment schedules, variations, timelines and responsibilities. Using industry-recognised building contracts helps protect all parties and ensures expectations are clearly documented before construction begins.

Can I live in my home during renovations?

5

Whether you can remain in your home during a renovation depends entirely on the scale and complexity of the project.

For smaller bathroom, kitchen or contained renovation works, staying onsite may be possible. For major structural renovations, full home remodels or projects involving essential services like plumbing and electrical shutdowns, temporary relocation may be the more practical option.

This is something we discuss early during renovation planning so you can make informed decisions before work begins.

Construction delays can occasionally occur due to weather conditions, material lead times, site discoveries or approval processes.

If delays arise, we communicate early and manage timelines proactively. Our priority is always to keep clients informed, adjust scheduling where possible and maintain momentum without compromising build quality.
Clear communication is a key part of how we manage residential building projects.

6

What happens if there are delays?

Yes — we regularly work alongside architects, building designers, interior designers and consultants throughout the construction process.

While Champley Constructions focuses on delivering the build itself, we collaborate closely with design professionals to ensure plans are executed accurately, practical construction considerations are addressed early, and the final result aligns with both the design vision and budget.

For clients in the early planning stages, we can also help guide the right professional team for your project.

7

Do you help with design?

Every residential construction project is different, so budgets vary depending on scope, finishes, structural complexity, site access and design requirements.

Whether you are planning a custom home build, home renovation, extension, kitchen remodel or bathroom renovation, we provide realistic budget guidance early in the process so expectations are aligned from the outset.

Our focus is honest pricing, transparent scope discussions and helping clients make informed decisions that support both quality outcomes and long-term value.
